PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high strength hot rolled steel sheet producible by a general hot strip mill and excellent in fatigue strength, particularly in stretch- flanging properties, and to provide a method for producing the same. ;SOLUTION: In this high strength hot rolled steel sheet with a hyperfine structure, the content of ferrite is ≥95% by an area ratio, also, the average crystal grain size of ferrite is 2.0 to 10 μm, martensite and retained austenite are not substantially contained in the structure, and tensile strength is controlled to ≥490 MPa. As the chemical components suitable for obtaining such structure, by weight, 0.01 to 0.10% C,≥1.5% Si, 1.0 to 2.5% Mn,≤0.15% P, ≤0.008% S, 0.01 to 0.08% Al, one or two kinds of Ti and Nb by 0.10 to 0.60% in total and Fe are used as the main components.
