PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a spiral type membrane module in which stabilized filtration operation can be performed while maintaining high transmission flux for a long period, and a method for operating the same. ;SOLUTION: The spiral type membrane module 100 is equipped with the spiral type membrane element having a separation membrane capable of performing back washing at back pressure of 0.05-0.3 MPa. At time of operation, the output of a booster pump 201 is controlled by an automatic controlling device 250 so that a flowmeter 210 of raw water shows constant value and filtration of the whole amount is performed. On one hand, at time of washing, the output of a booster pump 202 is controlled by an automatic controlling device 251 in accordance with the degree of change in value of a pressure gage 220 on the inlet side of raw water and back washing is performed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
