PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote maintenance and management system for printer, by which a maintenance company can positively manage the maintenance of a printer, it is not necessary to introduce a new facility such as laying of a telephone line, and additionally, it is not necessary to verify electronic mail from an electronic mail address permitted in access to peripheral equipment. SOLUTION: Concerning the remote maintenance and managing method for a printer 303 connected to a network on the user 3 side for maintenance and managing of the printer 303 from a management terminal 101 on the maintenance side existent on a maintenance and management side LAN 103 through an internet 2, the electronic mail address is given to the printer 303 and electronic mail, with which a command determined corresponding to the kind of maintenance and a password for judging the execution authority of this command are described, is transmitted from the maintenance side management terminal 101 to that electronic mail address.
