PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for alkali recycle regeneration of a carbon material capable of reducing the total quantity of an alkali regenerating agent to be used and simplifying a treatment stage after regeneration. SOLUTION: In the method for alkali recycle regeneration of a carbon material the following for conditions are kept. (1) After an alkali metal generated when the carbon material is regeneratedly utilizing an alkali metal compound as a regenerating agent is caught by a carbon material layer, the alkali metal is hydrated to be returned to the alkali regenerating agent and the alkali regeneration is carried out again. (2) An inert gas is flowed to transfer the alkali metal generated when the carbon material is regenerated. (3) The temperature of the carbon material layer which catches the alkali metal is controlled. (4)The carbon material layer holding the alkali metal is regenerated. The device for alkali recycle regeneration of the carbon material is provided with an alkali regeneration reaction section, a catching section for catching the alkali metal receiving at least one step and provided with a temperature controlling means, an inlet for introducing the inert gas, an outlet for discharging the gas and an inlet for introducing steam.
