PURPOSE: To conduct spectrodetection with high sensitivity without increasing the cost of a signal processing circuit and complexity by using a charge amplifier and reading out a photosensing element at higher frequency than that generating output signal. CONSTITUTION: A spectrodetector contains a light source 1 of deuterium lamp for example and radiates a beam 2 of multicolored radiation. the beam 2 is focused on a specimen cell 5 with a lens system 3. The beam coming out of the specimen cell 5 and passing an inlet slit 7 impinges on a holographic diffraction grating 10 which scatters the light according to the various wave lengths in the beam. The ray spatially separated in the diffraction grating 10 impinges on a photodiode array 11. Then the electric signal from the photodiode is read out periodically in a read-out circuit 20 and the signal indicates the intensity of each ray impinging on the photodiode. The electric signal read 20 out of the photodiode array 11 is processed by a signal processing circuit 21. By this, spectrodetection can be done without increasing the cost of the circuit 21 and its complexity.
