PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for a plastic molding die having weldability and the general properties required for a die equal to those of the conventional steel for a plastic molding die, and further, in which roughness in the powder electric discharge machined surface reaches ≤10 μm which is smaller than that in the conventional steel. ;SOLUTION: This steel for a plastic molding die excellent in powder electric discharge machinability has a composition containing, by weight, 0.10 to 0.30% C, ≤0.35% Si, 0.5 to 3.5% Mn, 0.020% P, 0.0030 to 0.0130% S, ≤0.10% Cu, ≤0.20% Ni, 1.0 to 3.0% Cr, 0.2 to 1.0% Mo, one or two kinds of V and Nb respectively by 0.05 to 0.30%, ≤0.030% s-Al, ≤0.0030% O, ≤0.020% N and ≤0.018% inclusions, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
