PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the wrong insertion of a cleaning cartridge that is caused by a cartridge transfer device with respect to a collective cartridge library device. ;SOLUTION: This collective cartridge library device consists of a cleaning cartridge 2a which stores a cleaning tape, a storing case 3 of the cartridge 2a, a bar code label 7 which is stuck on the cartridge 2a and a bar code reading mechanism 8 which reads the label 7 via an access mechanism 6. In such a constitution, it is possible to quickly detect the abnormality, to eliminate the useless operations of the mechanism 6 for improving its durability, to improve the quality of the mechanism parts and also to prevent the spread of damage that is caused by a wrong operation to insert the cartridge 2a into a drive.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
