PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculates the best lot size when products are produced by lots. SOLUTION: A computer carries out a switching cost calculation stage 1 for calculating switching cost according to a product price, a production speed, and a stage replacement loss time, a critical stock unit calculation stage 2 for calculating a critical stock unit as the product of the storage quantity and storage period of products where the total of stock expenditure becomes equal to the switching cost according to the switching cost and stock expenditure, a necessary production quantity calculation stage 3 for calculating a necessary production quantity according to an initial period stock and demand, and a lot size calculation stage 4 for calculating the lot size of products produced in each unit period according to the necessary production quantity and critical stock unit so that the total of the stock units as the product of the storage quantity and storage period of products in each unit period included in the whole plan object period becomes maximum without exceeding the critical stock unit.
