PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To very easily manufacture microlenses or microlens arrays in large quantities. ;SOLUTION: The microlenses are manufactured through a latent image forming step in which electrostatic latent images corresponding to one or more microlenses to be formed are formed on the surface of an electrostatic latent image support DS, a developing step in which the formed electrostatic latent images are developed with fine powder of transparent plastic, a melting step in which fine powder images obtained by the development are heated in a non-contact state and the separate fine powder images corresponding to the separate microlenses are melted and liquefied as homogeneous transparent plastic drops PD and a solidifying step in which the separate transparent plastic drops are solidified by cooling.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
