The invention relates to an improvement to analyzes by gas chromatography consisting in burning, after an analysis, the non-volatile products remaining in the injector. The invention also relates to an improved injection device comprising a vaporization-combustion chamber 7 , in which the sample to be analyzed is introduced using a syringe, and a side tube 8, making it possible to introduce a combustion gas, containing oxygen, through the pressure drop 35. The vaporization-combustion chamber is connected to the chromatographic column 18. When the volatile constituents of the sample have been vaporized and then analyzed on column 18, the combustion gas is introduced into the tube 7 by opening the valve 32 while the valve 31 allowing the arrival of the carrier gas in the injector is closed and the valve 5 open. The injector is depressurized and the combustion gas passes through the injector, brought to a temperature sufficient for the combustion of non-volatile residues, then is evacuated, with the combustion gases, through valve 5.
