Pharmaceutical compositions containing, as active ingredient, a non-fermented osmotic laxative, together with a carrier, for the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancers. The active ingredient is preferably a polyethylene glycol and/or a polyethylene-polypropylene glycol, preferably those having a molecular weight above 400 (preferably above 1000), such polymers having a molecular weight around 8000 being especially preferred.
