Use of nuclear receptors involved in lipid metabolism to screen substances which are useful for treating lipid metabolism dysfunctions such as hyperlipidaemia, obesity or syndrome X
Use of Rev-erb receptors (I), and/or their response elements (II), or their functional equivalents, for screening substances (S) which are useful for treating lipid metabolism dysfunctions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a process for screening (S), which involves placing a test substance (T) in contact with a Rev-erb family receptor and/or (II) and/or a nuclear receptor (III) which couples (I) to the RNA polymerase complex, or their functional equivalents, and measuring the binding of (T) to (I), or the binding of (T)-(I) complex to (II) and/or to (III), and/or measuring the modulation of the transcriptional activity of the genes placed under the control of a promoter comprising (II); and (2) a process for screening (S) which consists of determining the effect of (T) on the modulation of the expression of the gene encoding (I).
