Method for adjusting an alarm module, in particular an ultrasonic alarm module, particularly in a motor vehicle, characterised in that an adjustment stage includes: - a transmission phase, during which a signal is transmitted by transmission means; - a receiving phase, during which receiving means measure the level of the envelope signal of the ultrasonic signal received over a defined second time; - a third phase, called measurement phase, during which the maximum and minimum levels of the said signal are sampled and stored in memory, and in that the different between the said maximum level and the said minimum level of the said envelope signal constitutes a criterion for slaving the gain of an input amplifier included in the receiving means of the alarm module.
