The method involves dividing off a trigger from the signal, comparing the signal with a threshold at a number of time points relative to the trigger during multiple signal pattern (210) repetitions to generate measurement sample values that show the signal level relative to the threshold, and determining the signal flank probabilities and probability densities from the samples as a function of time. An Independent claim is made for a device for measuring signal jitter with a repeated signal pattern.
