In the handling and processing of gas mixtures, at an internal combustion motor, the combustion gas together with excess air and water components flow from the combustion zones of the motor (M) to the exhaust turbine (AT), to be passed into a vapor heater (DE). The steam formed in the exhaust boiler (AK) is raised to a higher energy level, and the gas mixture flows at a reduced temp. from the heater (DE) into the boiler (AK), where fresh water is fed (FE) to be evaporated. The mixture is at a reduced temp., but over the dewpoint of the fresh water supply (FE). The mixture passes through the exhaust acid-bonding heat exchanger (AS), and the exhaust gas temp. at the outlet is reduced below the level of its outlet from the motor.
