The measuring device uses several optical fibre grating sensors which are wound around the bar at a certain twist angle, and coupled to it in a positive or non-positive manner. The fibres are arranged about a twist angle phi0, part of the fibre winding having a twist angle phi1 which is less than phi0, and part of the fibre winding having a twist angle phi2 which is greater than phi0. The angle phi0 corresponds to the angle of compensation conditions in continuum mechanics during simultaneous linear extension and transversal contraction of the bar.
