The linear drive comprises a first section (3), arranged on a slide (1) which moves over guide rails in a second section (4), and a spacer (5). This can be removed from the slide when the device is to be disassembled, so increasing the distance between the first and second sections. Independent claims are included for a method of disassembling a linear drive and a machine containing the linear drive.
