The end of the side pipe (2) is bored out to a depth of ca. 10 cm before the plug is inserted, after which the old main pipe is replaced by the new pipe. A hole is made in the side of the new pipe to expose the plug. A sleeve may then be fitted to join the side pipe to the hole in the main pipe. A second plug is fitted, which has channels through which hardening material may be pumped to coat the sleeve.
