Device has an electromechanical clockwork mechanism serving as a reduction gear for second, minute and hour hands, with a hollow sphere mounted on the extended hour hand axle. The sphere is half-black and half-opaque with a light source at its center. An electrical circuit subdivides a quartz generated electrical second pulse so that the sphere rotates 360 degrees once every 28.5 days.
