A triangular shaped pillar connecting component is located in the region of the A-pillar. The connecting component is orientated parallel to the vehicle's longitudinal centre plane and has two diverging pillars(51,52) extending from the sill and with their upper ends connected by a horizontally extending cross member(53). The connecting component is formed by triangular shaped inner(54) and outer(55) shell each having a window-type cut-out(57) in their respective centre sections, and interconnected by an intermediate plate. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the manufacture of a motor vehicle's structure in which the outer and/or inner shell and/or intermediate plate and/or sill are joined by a pop riveting process.
