A cross member(29) extending in a straight line is installed above the sill(3) and outside the sill's end sections. The cross member on one side is connected to the longitudinal members(26) and on the other side connected via connecting members(27) to the sills. The connecting members extend at an angle to the direction of travel and lie upon the sills. The longitudinal members and/or the connecting members are formed from rectilinear profiles. The sill is formed from an inner and an outer shell, and the connecting member is connected to the upper side of the inner shell. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the manufacture of a motor vehicle's structure in which the connection between the sill's inner shell on one side and the connecting members, additional components, and first and second supports(23,24) on the other side, as well as the interconnection of the second-named components of the structure, is carried out by pop riveting tongs which are introduced in the open profile of the inner shell before joining of the outer shell of the sill to the structure.
