Data communications system with electronic polarization mode dispersion distortion correction has transmitter with pre-distortion device, receiver for signals at more than two levels
The system has a transmitter, a receiver (36) and an arrangement for eliminating noise as a result of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) of the optical transmission line (34). The transmitter has a pre-distortion device (10,12) and the receiver is designed to receive signals at more than two different levels and has a threshold decision circuit. Independent claims are also included for a transmitter and for a receiver.
