Safety device for preventing cavitation in pumps, especially fire-fighting centrifugal pumps, activates warning device and/or triggers ingress into pump controller to reduce/terminate cavitation
The safety device has one or more sound sensors (10) mounted in the pump housing connected to an evaluation circuit (12-16) that processes the detected cavitation noise and a switching device (17). The switching device is operated when cavitation is detected and activates a warning device (18,19) and/or triggers ingress into a control or regulation device (20) for the pump (11) to reduce or terminate the cavitation.
