Airbag module as part of motor vehicle's occupant restraint system has cover which after opening and after predetermined time requires increasingly higher forces for airbag to be deployed
The airbag module comprises an airbag(5) combined with an airbag cover(7). Upon activation of the gas generator(3) the airbag is pulled in stages from its housing(2), and after opening of the cover, and after a predetermined time, increasingly higher forces are required for the deployment of the airbag. The airbag cover is constructed so that it becomes increasingly more difficult to tear away from a given point by increased thickness. Radially extending incisions(9) are provided as tear lines and have decreasing depths starting from the centre(8).
