Chimney hood building block of legs and faces specifies angle between wall leg tangent plane base so legs run along truncated pyramid sides for stability.
Chimney hood building block of legs and faces specifies angle between wall leg tangent plane base so legs run along truncated pyramid sides for stability.
The tangential plane of the block legs addressed to the broad exterior faces (14) form an angle (a) of 3-12 deg less than 90 deg with the flat base planes and run along the side faces of a truncated pyramid and the outside face (14) and wall leg (12) are in trapezoidal contour so the associated endface (26) stands at right angles to the base and top surfaces. The endface (26) of the one leg (12) runs parallel to the tangential plane of the other leg (2) in each case and the broad exterior faces (14) should be in convex or concave contour in relation to the sectional planes parallel to the respective endfaces (26). The block is made of fireclay or lightweight concrete, with the fireclay legs (23) glazed onto the exterior faces (14). Thus the tangential planes of the legs give an angle of approximately 86 deg to 84 deg with the exterior surfaces. With the blocks arranged adjacently, the leg endface of the block in one course is adjoined by one or more wall plates so the exterior faces of these blocks form an angle (a) as specified, with the exterior face of the wall plate in its turn rectangular or trapezoidal.
