The load measurement in a linear ferromagnetic element (1) involves passing an alternating current through the element to measure its ohmic resistance via contacts (5,6), and determining the load on the basis of the measured resistance values, using a relationship between the load data against resistance. The ferromagnetic element is made of an amorphous alloy based on iron. The frequency of the alternating current is at least 300 kHz. A flat sensor may be constructed of several parallel elements.
