PURPOSE: A method for converting an INFORMAP drawing to an AutoCAD drawing is provided to directly utilize the INFORMAP data in AutoCAD software and other software without converting into intermediate data. CONSTITUTION: When AutoCAD software is executed(10), a schema table of the INFORMAP software is read, and thereby a drawing layer of the AutoCAD that corresponds to a data type of the INFORMAP is created(12). A line table of the INFORMAP is read, and then the kind of a line of the AutoCAD, which corresponds to a line type of the INFORMAP, is generated(14). An INFORMAP symbol table is processed(16). A commentary table of the INFORMAP is read, and thereby the information of an INFORMAP character is stored in a memory(18). A data type of the INFORMAP drawing is selected(22). The drawing data corresponding to the selected data type is extracted(24), and then classified(26). The INFORMAP drawing data is converted to the AutoCAD data according to the features classified(28).
