PURPOSE: An ultrasonic color doppler imaging system is provided, to display the color of blood vessel with the different color and the different lightness according to the velocity of blood current. CONSTITUTION: The ultrasonic color doppler imaging system comprises the first detection means which detects the information of blood current by using the ultrasonic echo signal reflected from the object; the second detection means which determines whether the blood vessel is the artery or the vein from the detected information; and an image display means which displays the ultrasonic color doppler image on the screen with the different colors according to the kind of blood vessel. The information of blood current is preferably the velocity of blood current.
