PURPOSE: A method for building a standard merchandise database and a method and an apparatus for providing a standard merchandise information are provided to supply a standardized merchandise information to a user by standardizing different merchandise code systems. CONSTITUTION: A method for building a standard merchandise database comprises the steps of: preparing a standardized merchandise code system; receiving basic data about a multitude of merchandise having different merchandise code systems; converting the basic data to a standard merchandise code and building the standard merchandise information data base; and providing the database to electronic commercial transaction businessmen. An apparatus for providing a standard merchandise information comprises an internet(100), a storage unit(110), and a web server(130). A method for providing a standard merchandise information comprises steps of: converting a basic database to a standard merchandise code and storing a standard merchandise information data base; searching the standard merchandise information data base; and the searched information to a user.
