"VACCINE FOR MUCOSAL ADMINISTRATION, PROCESSES FOR INDUCING A SYSTEMIC IMMUNOGLOBULIN RESPONSE AGAINST AN IMMUNOGENE AND A COMMON MUCOSAL IMMUNE RESPONSE AGAINST AN IMMUNOGENE AND USE OF ENTEROTOXIN B SUBUNITIES". The present invention relates to a vaccine containing at least one particulate immunogen and an amount of heat-labile enterotoxin B subunit adjuvant characteristic of E. coli. More specifically, this invention relates to vaccines in which the LTB adjuvant is free from contaminant A subunits or holotoxin. For this purpose, preferably, LTB prepared by recombinant DNA techniques is used. Particulate immunogens can refer to, or be derived from, for example viruses, bacteria or fungi. This vaccine is particularly suitable for inducing a positive response against said particulate immunogen by mucosal administration (for example, intra-nasal). It was found that such administration results in both systemic and mucosal protection against the pathogen to which the particulate immunogen relates.
