Movement or energy is derived from a motor component (120, 50) and stored as potential energy (500). The stored energy is selectively applied to a valve actuator (300) with an electronically controlled initiator valve (400). The valve actuator (300) can be a slave piston (300) of the cylinder (40) in response to independent hydraulic systems for exhaust gas recirculation and compression relief.
