PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device for the quantity of mercury in a lamp and a measuring method thereof capable of conducting non-destructive measurement of an effective quantity of mercury in the lamp easily and accurately by measuring aging effects of a lamp voltage and a lamp current. ;SOLUTION: This measuring device comprises a DC power source 12 for lighting a fluorescent lamp 11, a voltmeter 13 for measuring a voltage applied to the fluorescent lamp 11 by the DC power source 12, an ammeter 14 for measuring a current flowing through the fluorescent lamp 11, a Peltier element 15 for cooling a part of the fluorescent lamp 11, a thermometer 16 for measuring a peripheral temperature of the fluorescent lamp, and calculating means 17 for calculating a quantity of mercury of the fluorescent lamp 11 by using signals from the voltmeter 13, the ammeter 14, and the thermometer 16.
