PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an index information service which adds index information used to locate each of plural units in a program to the program and transmits the resulting program. ;SOLUTION: A program transmitter side applies invalidation to limit use of index information to each unit being an addition object of the index information and adds a validation signal that is used to validate, that is, to release the limited use of the index information to the invalidated unit to an extractable area attended with decoding a specific part in the program and transmits the resulting program. On the other hand, a program receiver side sequentially extracts the validated signal from the extractable area attended with decoding the specific part in the program and uses the extracted validated signal to apply validation to the unit that is invalidated thereby acquiring the index information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
