PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up the processing of an image by rotating image data of a block except scan data in a buffer thereby writing the block in a memory. SOLUTION: Picture data 264 is obtained by scanning the M-number of main scanning lines of an image. A first block 266 is obtained by constituting such a block as has the first M-number of main scanning lines N-number of pixels (or N-lines of pixels). This block 266 is rotated to face an image 268. In the case of being rotated by 90 deg. counterclockwise, image data is written in the memory secured for the whole image. Next, a second block is rotated by 90 deg. clockwise to be matched with a prescribed image. Continually, this second block is written at the storing position of the memory. In a case when all of the blocks are rotated and written in the memory, the memory is arranged to include image data.
