PURPOSE: To provide the subject conjugate fibers made up of two constituents, a thermoplastic resin ≥50% in thermal shrinkage rate at a temperature close to its melting point and another thermoplastic resin, where both the constituents are easily separable from each other by heat treatment and are partly exposed on the fiber surface. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective conjugate fibers each having a cross section given e.g. in the figures are made up of (1) the 1st component: a thermoplastic resin such as a polyester, polyamide or polymethylpentene and (2) and 2nd component: a terpolymer composed of ethylene, propylene and butene-1, or ethylene-propylene copolymer. The component 2 shrinks significantly at a temperature close to its melting point, resulting in the separation of the 1st component from the 2nd component, thus producing ultrafine fibers.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
