PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a galvannealed steel sheet excellent in initial white rust resistance by forming a galvannealing layer contg. specified ratios of Mg, Al and Ni on the surface of a steel sheet. ;SOLUTION: A galvanizing layer contg., by weight, 0.05 to 3% Mg, 0.1 to 1% Al, 0.01 to 0.2% Ni, and the balance Zn with inevitable impurities is formed on the surface of a steel sheet. Furthermore, the coating weight of the galvannealing layer is preferably regulated to about ≥10g/m2 from the viewpoint of corrosion resistance and to about ≤350g/m2 from the viewpoint of workability.
