A corrosion test-piece is claimed incorporating, on an observation face (3), an imprint (7) that defines a reference point (I) serving to orient the test-piece with respect to a fixed observation datum. A datum tied to the test-piece possesses an origin situated at the centre (O) of the observation face (3) determined by the intersection of the three mediators of the segments of a triangle formed by three points (A, B, C) on the circumference of the observation face (3). The upright passing through the reference point (I) and the centre (O) allows the orientation of the observation face (3) with respect to a fixed datum. Each damage is thus individually localised in the datum of the test-piece by the superposition of the images acquired at the different observation times for which the orientation of the observation face (3) is opposite any anterior orientation. A device using this test-piece for detecting corrosion is also claimed.
