摘要
An agent for eradicating aphids infestation of plants comprises tobacco juice diluted with an aqueous or water-miscible solvent.- DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of the agent.- ACTIVITY - Insecticide.- Marlboro (RTM) cigarette stubs (250 g) and three cigar stubs (Schneehase (RTM)) were mechanically ground and mixed with one liter of Bad Soden mineral water. The mixture was heated to 55 deg. C and left in an open vessel for 24 hours. The solids were filtered off and discarded, and the liquid was sprayed onto aphid-infested jasmine plants. After five hours, 30 % of the aphids had died; all had died after 24 hours. The plants, which were sprayed with water to remove the dead insects, were undamaged by their treatment.- AGRICULTURE - Preferred Agent: The tobacco juice is obtained from the leaves of pipe, cigarette or cigar tobacco plants, which are preferably dried. The tobacco can also come from cigarette or cigar stubs. The aqueous component is preferably mineral water obtained from wells in the town of Bad Soden.- Preparation: The agent is prepared by coarsely grinding the tobacco leaves and adding the water, optionally followed by a small amount of methanol, ethanol or acetic acid. The mixture is gently concentrated by warming to 80 degreesC, preferably 70 degreesC and especially 60 degreesC; this stage lasts at least five hours, preferably at least ten hours and most preferably at least 24 hours. Any solids are afterwards removed by filtration, decanting or centrifugation. The mixture contains up to 20 vol. % (preferably up to 10 vol. %) of methanol, ethanol or acetic acid
