The device is for verifying the partial discharge behaviour of prefabricated, elastically expandable junction boxes for plastics insulated cables, including two part-pieces of a plastics-insulated HV cable. Each part-piece has a test end-seal (12,13) at one end, for plug-connection to the other ends within the junction box (1) being tested. A casing (5) encloses the junction box and the inserted cable-ends in a gas-tight fashion by a pressurised gas connection. The external diameter of the cable ends inserted into the junction box is at the most some 4% larger than the inner diameter of the prefabricated junction box.
