Other hard materials such as rock and concrete are broken by a combination of mechanical impact crusher 33 and a small-load blasting process. The mechanical impact crushers 33 and 47 break the rock by continuously transmitting mechanical strikes to the rock. The shredding process is accomplished by pressurizing the bottom of the drilled hole 9 in such a way as to initiate and propagate controlled shredding cracks 18 and 30 or to propagate existing shredding cracks near the bottom of the hole 12. Indeed, small-load blasting methods are used for fracture to partially break the excavation core. At this time, the mechanical impact crushers 33 and 47 are used to efficiently crush and remove the rocks weakened by the small-load blasting.
