Instrument-based system which, by means of automated methodology, monitors the process of interaction between water and a porous solid, in such a manner that it allows the detection, measurement and quantification of the sorption properties of the water by total immersion, sorption of the water by capillary action, sorption of the water vapour (steam) and desorption thereof. Given the characteristics of the methodology used, both the system and the process may be applicable to fluids other than water. The apparatus consists of the following parts: sample chamber, weighing system and sample-holder support, water-level-control system and system for monitoring the process and recording data.
