This report describes the methods to identify Alfa plants representing tanin, Alfa plants with measurable endocrine tanino levels, and methods to reduce Alfa crops with measurable endocrine tanino levels. The report also describes methods of feeding ruminants with alfa plant feed (sativa L herb) containing measurable endocrine tanino. These methods provide pasture safety, protein protection, enhanced pest resistance, and improved health and nutrition of ruminants. These methods include the use of Alfa plants with measurable endocrine tanino content as a basic food source.
