PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CIS-based solar cell module whose weight is reduced without reducing a substrate area, handling of which is simple and which is low-cost. ;SOLUTION: A CIS-based solar cell module is provided with a substrate 1, composed of a metallic thin film 1b in which a heat-resistant electric insulating film 1a is formed on the surface. The heat-resistant electric insulating film 1a is, e.g. a ceramic thin film which is constituted of a material composed mainly of silicon oxide or a resin thin film which is constituted of a heat- resistant resin material. When the resin thin film is constituted of a flexible resin material, a CIS-based solar cell can be changed into a submodule by a roll-to-roll system. In addition, when a flexible transparent resin film is formed as a surface protective layer via a thermoplastic transparent resin layer, the submodule of the CIS-based solar cell can be made flexible.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
