PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the machining accuracy and operation rate of an NC machine tool by allowing the tool tip coordinate position of a new tool to be set easily when a tool is changed. ;SOLUTION: Before a tool is changed, the blade tip position of an existing tool 7a is detected by a sensor, and a coordinate position at that time is stored. Next, the blade tip position of a new tool 7b is detected by a sensor and, as the coordinate position of the new tool 7b at that time, the coordinate position of the existing tool stored is set.
