PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sterilize miscellaneous germs while decomposing biodegradable components of garbage treated for sterilization at high temperature, and sanitarily treat garbage by installing a circulation means for the garbage capable of setting the temperature at the time of garbage circulation at a specified temperature and biologically decomposing the garbage circulated by the circulation means. ;SOLUTION: After ground by a disposer 110, garbage is moved to a solid- liquid separator 120 through a garbage circulation pipe 111. At the time of transfer of ground garbage or before or after the transfer, hot water at 75°C or higher is introduced into the disposer 110 through the hot water supply pipe 311 from a hot water supply apparatus 310 to keep the temperature of the ground garbage in the solid-liquid separator 120 at 75°C or higher. The solid fraction separated in the solid-liquid separator 120 is charged to a reaction tank 210. Since thermophilic bacteria are prepared in the reaction tank 210 and kept constantly at 75°C or higher in a heat keeping tank 330, the treated garbage charged to the reaction tank 210 is decomposed into water and carbonic acid gas by being stirred and brought into contact with the thermophilic bacteria by stirring blades 213.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
