FIELD: geology, fast making of maps of horizons from 3-D array of seismic signals. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to package processing of digital data presenting signals of pulses for each seismic signal of specified array which results in determination of "ones" and "zeros". Bit array is formed in which "one" at depth of signal means that at this depth as well as other depths with "one" within limits of selected depth on adjacent signals horizon exists. Prospecting geologist selects starting point under rail time condition identifying by this "one" as particular signal at particular depth. Automated scanning procedure finds all other "ones" at depth of adjacent signals. Each "one" found on adjacent signals is considered as starting point and process continues till new "one" will not be found. Map of horizon is created on basis of depths of each found "one". There is proposed method according to which bit array is replaced with compressed array of signals in which each bit of bit array is replaced with numerical value corresponding to precise position of attribute at depth of extremum presented by this bit.
