PURPOSE: To provide the metallic material capable of obtaining a sound casting when being used in the thixo-casting method. ;CONSTITUTION: The metallic material has the thermal characteristic that one mountain-shaped endothermic part (e) appears in the thermogram (d). When the base line (h) to connect the rise starting point (f) of the mountain-shaped endothermic part (e) to the descending finishing point (g) is divided into the line segment (m) on the rise starting point side and the line segment (n) on the descending finishing point side by the temperature line (k) to connect the apex (i) of the mountain-shaped endothermic part (e) and the temperature scale of the apex (i) on the axis (j) of the heating temperature, the relationship S1/S2≥2.5 is established between the area S1 of the part surrounded by the rising line segment (o) of the mountain-shaped endothermic part (e), the temperature line (k) and the line segment (m) on the rise starting point side and the area S2 of the part surrounded by the descending line segment (p) of the mountain- shaped endothermic part (e), the temperature line (k) and the line segment (n) on the descending finishing point side.
