PURPOSE: To automatically put works into and out of a barrel to be used for a surface treatment, such as plating or zinc phosphate treatment. ;CONSTITUTION: This cap plate locking mechanism is provided with an aperture 6A in the peripheral cylindrical part 2 of a perforated vessel 1A supported rotatably on a frame and is mounted on the barrel 14A for surface treatment screwed with the root edge of a cap plate 7A which opens outward at the one edge 11A of the aperture 6A. The cap plate locking mechanism consists of detaining hook parts 13A disposed at the other edge 11B of the aperture 6A of the perforated vessel 1A and detaining pieces 8A disposed at the cap plate 7A. The detaining hook parts 13A are disposed on a rod 16A freely laterally slidably mounted at the edge 11B. The rod 16A is laterally slid by a pair of pressing means 48, 48 arranged on both sides of the barrel 14A, by which the detaining hook parts 13A of the rod 16A and the detaining pieces 8A of the cap plate 7A are engaged, attached and detached.
