PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To to greatly change the thrombotic resistance of a surface by applying heparin on a stent in such a manner that the level of antithrombin III activity may be changed. SOLUTION: An antithrombin agent, such as heparin, is applied on the wall 12 of the stent 10. A carmeda CH 5 heparin coating is applied on, for example, JJIS Palmaz shatz crown stent. As a result, platelet deposition decreases substantially during the period when the stent 10 is exposed to the flowing blood in an AV-shunt. The suppression of the platelet deposition is greatly changed by the height of the antithrombin III activity of the heparin coating on the surface of the stent 10. Namely, the suppression of the platelet deposition increases as the antithrombin III activity increases to about 0.7, about 0.8... about 5.0 picomol/stent. Then, the stent 10 is more installed to the lesion section as the heparin is applied more on the stent. Thrombus formation is lessened when the stent is expanded beyond its elasticity threshold.
