PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating agent capable of stabilizing sustainability of an active ingredient release from medicine, etc., for a long time by using a polyglycerol mono fatty acid ester having high content of a mono ester substance synthesized from a fatty acid and a glycidol. ;SOLUTION: This agent contains a polyglycerol mono fatty acid ester in which the content of a mono fatty acid ester of the formula [R is an alkyl substituted by 6-21C alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyl; (n) is a ≥4 average number], detected by column chromatography analysis method using an ultraviolet absorption detector and expressed by peak area ratio is 70%. The polyglycerol mono fatty acid ester can be obtained by reacting a fatty acid of the formula, RCOOH with a glycidol in the presence of a phosphoric acid-based acid catalyst. Improvement in stability and sustainability of an active ingredient release can be expected by using the agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
